Date: Late November 2002, when Shane's doctors advised him to go on a holiday, after suffering from gladular fever.

The proposal
Shane: "We had dinner at the hotel where we were staying, then went for a walk on the beach. We were lying on some deckchairs and Gillian was saying how amazing the stars looked, so I pulled out the ring and said, 'What do you think of this star?' She grabbed it off me, then I went down on one knee and said, 'Will you marry me?' Gillian screamed, said yes and started crying, hugging and kissing me."
The ring
Gillian's ring was designed by Shane, which he ordered before they went on the holiday to Dubai. He says, "I had planned to get engaged at Christmas and I picked the ring, a Solitaire two carat white diamond with white gold band."
