Shane Filan to be X-Factor coach
By COLIN ROBERTSON
GORGEOUS Dannii Minogue is spicing up the X Factor by bringing in Emma Bunton as her judging sidekick. The Aussie told TV Biz that Baby Spice, 32, has been a godsend when it comes to deciding which wannabes to put through. Dannii, 36, who is putting the over-25 hopefuls through their paces at her rented pad in the ritzy French resort of St Tropez, said: “She’s been brilliant — one of the best X Factor guest judges ever. "She really helped me focus on who we should be putting through to the next round.” The beauty added: “Emma is one of the biggest X Factor fans so she knows the show inside out.” Each of the ITV1 hit’s four judges is allowed to pick a trusty aide to help them weed out weaker contestants during singing boot camps at the stars’ homes. And Dannii revealed that she is finding the process heart-breaking. She admitted: “It’s so hard deciding who to put through and who to send home because it means the world to these people. “You’re sitting there and you’re in charge of these kids’ hopes and dreams.” Meanwhile just up the French Riviera’s coast, in Cannes, Cheryl Cole, 25, has turned to Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh, 26, to pick the best of the girls’ category. Fellow judge Louis Walsh, 56, has picked Westlife singer Shane Filan, 29, as his helper. The singer has flown out to Louis’ Irish home to give his advice on the shortlist. And Simon Cowell, 48, has regular sidekick Sinitta, 41, to help him whittle down the lads’ category at his home in Barbados. Dannii revealed her Baby signing as Britney Spears, 26, put pen to paper to perform on the show — just as The Sun predicted. Simon Cowell said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have her. Shave “Everyone wants to work with her because she’s a star. She’s the number one booking in the world at the moment for a show.” Television’s Mr Nasty added: “The fact that she goes a bit crazy occasionally makes her more interesting. And if she wants to shave her head before she comes on the show, she’s welcome to. I don’t care.” Britney is just one of a star-studded line-up set for guest performances on the talent quest. Leona Lewis, 23, will return to the show which made her name when she won the series in 2006. Last year’s winner Leon Jackson, 19, is also coming back to showcase his new single. And Girls Aloud are rumoured to be making an appearance. Meanwhile, Dannii has said she wants Michael Jackson, 50, to join them, alongside Cher, 62, and Jennifer Aniston’s ex, US blues singer John Mayer, 30. Source: The Sun Posted on 26 Sep 2008 by Laura
Shane Filan EXCLUSIVE: I'm Top Of The Pops
Westlife star Shane Filan has left five-star hotels and VIP nightclubs for dirty nappies and midnight feeds but the singer couldn't be happier.
The doting dad is at home with his healthy newborn son Patrick watching the baby's first Ryder Cup. And speaking from his home Shane beamed: "It really is amazing. I feel so lucky at the moment, Patrick is a beautiful baby boy. We've always wanted a girl and a boy and, to be honest, I'll do whatever it takes for the little man. I've just changed a nappy before talking to you and I'll change as many as it takes. He is a great baby though and is sleeping really well. But Nicole was like that too so we feel like the luckiest parents in the world and I am such a proud dad." Shane (29) married his childhood sweetheart Gillian Walsh on December 28, 2003 at Ballintubber Abbey. Three years ago Gillian (29) gave birth to the couple's first child, a daughter, Nicole Rose, at Sligo General Hospital. Born Patrick was born last Monday weighing 6lbs 8zs at Sligo General after three and half hours of labour, Shane said. "The labour was quite quick which was great for Gillian. It is an experience for me to be a part of it and for Gill." he said. "When Nicole was born there was a C-section and this time Gillian was anxious to experience the birth. We have always dreamed of having a boy and a girl and now we have the set. The next baby can be a bit of a lucky dip but for now we have the perfect family. It is great to have another man in the house. We have two dogs and they are both female so that made four women at home. Now myself and Patrick can even up the numbers a bit." Shane likes to play golf in his spare time but likes horses more. He and his family own more than 70 horses and used to compete at horse tournaments between tours. Westlife are currently on a year break after 10 years on the road -a break that couldn't have come at a better time for the singer. Shane said: "It's great to be able to spend time at home with my new baby and not having to pack a bag and rush off to catch a flight. We have had a great 10 years with the band and in a way that has afforded me time off with my baby. So I have about 10 months to do the stay-at-home daddy role and take care of my boy and girls." Shane is a homebird who loves nothing more than spending time at his country pile. And he took time to respect another Irish tradition - wetting the baby's head. Shane laughed: "I did wet the baby's head with Gillian's dad. There is a very famous pub at home called Shoot the Crows and it has the best pint of Guinness in Ireland. So we went there for a few to celebrate and it was great. I hadn't had a drink in about a month but it was an occassion. In fact, I'm becoming quite the Irish father and have moved away from the spirits and have started drinking pints of Guinness." Family Well wishes and cards have been flooding in for the happy family. Nicky and Kian are away on holidays at the moment but Mark has called in to see the latest addition to the Westlife family, while the band's website has been inundated with posts and messages from the hordes of Westlife fans. When he's not being the world's greatest dad, Shane still has one eye on his career. Westlife have had 14 UK number ones and 6 no1 albums in UK and sold 40 million records. And when the time is right he hopes the fab four can come back to the top with a bang and their 15th No1. He said "The other great thing is that I have a whole new decade to look forward to with Westlife. We are going to go back into the studio in 10 months' time to record an album of completely new songs. We want to start off this new era with the best song ever produced and that will take a lot of work. So it means I'm enjoying this incredible family time all the more."
