Why The Filans.net
You're probably wondering why I choose a simple name as 'The Filans' for my website. And why I actually made this site about Shane AND Gillian and not just Shane or Gillian or Westlife, as a band.. Well IŽll tell you.
This site used to be called 'Gillian Walsh' back in 2002 or so, so as you understand, I made it about Gillian only, orginally. But because of the fact there was just too little written about her, and too little pictures published of her, I put more and more stuff of Shane on the site too. And when I changed internet providers, I had to change the url to 'http://home.planet.nl/(something)' So I decided to change my site to Gillian AND Shane at that time and made it 'The Filans' which I think doesn't need an explaination, since everyone seem to call Shane and Gillian 'The Filans'. But I gave the site that name, even before it became 'a famous word' amongst the Westlife fans.
Now why I made it about Gillian in the first place.. Well, when people got to know about Shane dating Gillian loads of fans just seemed to be against Gillian, they bitched about her, said nasty things about her.. and for a short while I was like 'Hmm he could get better than her' as well but then when I saw one of the first pictures of them together (The one of them, walking through that door after Party In The Park) I was like 'Ah why have I been so negative about her? Shane looks so happy and he doesn't look that bad either, and I just love her clothes!' And while all the other fans kept bitching about her I protested against them, and started 'Gillian Walsh', which had got loads of visits from 'haters' back then, who told me I was sad for making the site etc. but I didn't care, and kept on going, and that's actually how this site became the biggest Shane and Gillian resource on the net, with about 200-300 visitors a day! Who would have ever thought that eh? And I tell you, it's only getting bigger and bigger!
